Textile Landscapes, Drawing with Fabric and Thread
8th – 15th July 2018

Carol Arnott is a textile artist and maker from Broughty Ferry, Dundee. Working in felt and reclaimed fabrics, she enjoys recreating the quirky harbours around the East Coast of Scotland where she lives, and is drawn to the isolation and beautiful countryside that is home to the Scottish bothy.

All Carol’s work is hand sewn, and is created by drawing in stitch – using the tone and textures of the materials used to depict the buildings and landscapes created in her work.

Selling internationally, Carol works mostly through commission and has enjoyed exhibiting in a number of exhibitions and Scottish galleries. Her work is widely collected, and has been featured in both ‘Be Creative with Workbox’ and ‘Stitch’ magazines.

Carol is an experienced tutor, delivering classes and workshops to groups the length of Scotland where her courses are enjoyed by both experienced embroiderers and novices alike. She enjoys developing and enhancing different skills and abilities; making sure the content of her workshops are tailored for individual ability, pace and most of all – enjoyment!

Carol is also a Community Learning and Development practitioner and enjoys using her creative skills to work with people in many varied and diverse ventures; from community engagement to creating public art.  She is looking forward to expanding her workshop delivery to Les Carroz in the French Alps in the summer of 2018.
